Modern capitalism hides inhumane cruelty behind its facade. Verhoeven accentuates this even more by giving us the backstory on RoboCop who is presented by a competitor CEO as an (mentioned here) alternative for those fighting robots. To steal Alex Murphy's corpse, he has the criminals kill him. Once again, the point is made. Robocop is one shining example of capitalist technocracy's triumphs. -- without suffering unimaginable anguish.
